This beautiful animal was found abandoned by Corky and an Addison Security Guard while patrolling outside of our former apartment building just before Thanksgiving, 1996. He was approximately 4-5 months old and suffering from extreme malnutrition. We kept him in our apartment and after exhausting all remedies to find an owner, we began the process of attempting to find a home for him. Our landlord asked us if we would like to keep him and of course we said yes. Since then he has become a very faithful, devoted family member that all of us are proud of. He was named "LUCKY" by Bobby, who said we were all lucky to have found each other. After being examined by several veterinarians and dog trainers, it was determined that he is in fact a full breed German Shepherd, however AKC paperwork for breeding cannot be obtained because of the lack of information of his background. Only papers for show and K-9 purposes have been issued.

He is now a 95 pound bundle of pure aggression, doing so on command or his own sensing that trouble is evident, especially when it comes to protecting a member of the immediate family or our property. He takes verbal commands in three different languages, besides the use of hand signs. He has been trained for drug and person search and also personal protection. He has been used by several law enforcement agencies with great success.

Lucky became extremely lethargic on the morning of January 10, 2005 and after emergency examination at the Fox Lake Animal Hospital, it was found that he is suffering from an enlarged heart and was transferred to an animal hospital in Northbrook, Illinois for tests, diagnosis and treatment for this ailment by a cardiologist.

01/12/2005 - Update - After extreme examination and testing, it has been learned that Lucky is suffering from a malignant tumor within the right atrium in his heart that is also interfering with the mitral valve and that the cancer has spread throughout his system. With the tumor also comes swelling and draining which is causing edema around the heart muscle which sometimes makes it hard for the blood to be properly pumped which in turn is causing a water build up within the heart muscle. The vet informed us that there is nothing medically that can be done for Lucky and that he may have 4 weeks to 4 months left of his fabulous life. He is not suffering any pain and will be his normal self most of the time with intermittent periods of resting, so we will be bringing him home from the hospital and will be spending a lot more time with him during the remaining time we will have with him.

As of this date, Lucky is officially retired from his duties as a search animal.
